Product description

The Shark Classic Steam Mop S1000UK cleans and sanitises 99.9% of household bacteria* using nothing but tap water. There's no cleaning solution to buy and no chemical residue left on the floor, so it suits homes with children, pets or bare feet.

Fill the 375 ml tank with the flask, plug in and wait around 30 seconds. Pump the handle to release steam when you want it and stop when you don't, so a sealed wood floor gets a light pass while kitchen tiles get a proper going over. At 2.6 kg it's easy to carry between rooms and up the stairs.

Kitchen tiles finally look clean
We have terracotta tiles in the kitchen and a mop and bucket never really shifted the grime in the grout. Did the whole floor in about ten minutes with this and the pad came off filthy, which I suppose is the point. It's light enough that my mum, who's 78, has been using it too.

Sorted our laminate in the dining room
Bought it after the kids trod mud through the dining room for the third week running. Steams up in less than a minute and you just pump the handle when you want more. Floor was dry by the time I'd put the chairs back down. Cord is long enough to do the room from one socket.

Good mop, lives in the utility room now
Does what I wanted, which was a quick going over of the tiles without filling a bucket. Only reason it's not five stars is that it doesn't stand up on its own, so it leans against the wall in the utility next to my old spray mop. Not a big deal but worth knowing.

What's in the box
Photo shows everything you get: the mop, two pads, the little jug for filling it and a leaflet. Took me five minutes to click the pole together. Used it on the hallway lino the same evening. No chemicals, just tap water, and it took the sticky marks off by the door that I'd given up on.

Lovely on real wood
Was nervous about steam on the oak floor in the lounge but it's sealed and the mop leaves it just slightly damp, dries in a couple of minutes. I keep it plugged in by the fireplace because I end up using it most days. Pad goes in the wash with the tea towels.

Handy but the tank is small
It's replaced my mop and bucket completely. The tank does the kitchen and hall on one fill but if I want to do the bathroom as well I have to top it up. Takes thirty seconds so I'm not complaining much. Sits in the cupboard next to the dustpan.

Mosaic tiles in the bathroom
Those little mosaic tiles are a nightmare with a normal mop because the grout lines catch everything. This gets in there. Did the bathroom floor while the bath was running. The pad's thick enough that it doesn't feel like you're scrubbing.

Bathroom floor in two minutes
Steam takes about 30 seconds to come through. I do the bathroom while the kettle's on, honestly. The head swivels enough to get round the toilet and under the sink without bending down. No chemical smell after, which I didn't expect to care about but I do.

Kept it in the laundry room
Light enough to carry upstairs with one hand. I do the kitchen floor and the utility every couple of days now instead of once a week because it's no effort. The water tank clips off to fill so you don't have to carry the whole thing to the tap.

Fine, does the job
Nothing fancy about it. Pole, tank, pad. That's the appeal really. Took the photo before I put it together because the wife asked what was in the box. Cable is long. Pads wash fine. Would have liked a clip to hold the cable tidy but I've used a bit of velcro.

Frequently asked questions
Which floors can I use it on?
Any sealed hard floor: tile, stone, laminate, vinyl, lino, marble and sealed hardwood. Don't use it on unsealed or waxed wood, or on carpet.
How long does it take to heat up?
Around 30 seconds from switching on. Once the light shows it's ready, pump the handle to release steam.
Do I need to add any cleaning solution?
No. It works with tap water only. Adding detergent or descaler can damage the heater and isn't covered by the guarantee.
How long does one tank last?
The 375 ml tank gives roughly 10 to 15 minutes of steam depending on how often you pump. That's enough for a kitchen and hallway on one fill. The tank clips off so refilling takes seconds.
Are the pads washable?
Yes. The two Dirt Grip pads in the box go in the washing machine on a normal cycle. Don't use fabric softener, as it stops them absorbing properly.
Does it stand up on its own?
No. Like most stick steam mops it needs to lean against a wall or worktop when you're not using it. It weighs 2.6 kg, so it's easy to move around.
What does the guarantee cover?
A 2-year guarantee against manufacturing faults. It doesn't cover pads, which are consumables, or damage caused by using anything other than water in the tank.
How long is delivery?
Orders ship from our UK warehouse within 24 hours and arrive in 2 to 4 working days. Delivery is free across the UK on orders over £15, so the steam mop always qualifies.
How can I pay?
Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Apple Pay and Google Pay. Payment is processed by Stripe and your card details never touch our servers.
