Product description
The Shark Classic Steam Mop S1000UK cleans and sanitises 99.9% of household bacteria* using nothing but tap water. There's no cleaning solution to buy and no chemical residue left on the floor, so it suits homes with children, pets or bare feet.
Fill the 375 ml tank with the flask, plug in and wait around 30 seconds. Pump the handle to release steam when you want it and stop when you don't, so a sealed wood floor gets a light pass while kitchen tiles get a proper going over. At 2.6 kg it's easy to carry between rooms and up the stairs.

Kitchen tiles finally look clean
We have terracotta tiles in the kitchen and a mop and bucket never really shifted the grime in the grout. Did the whole floor in about ten minutes with this and the pad came off filthy, which I suppose is the point. It's light enough that my mum, who's 78, has been using it too.

Sorted our laminate in the dining room
Bought it after the kids trod mud through the dining room for the third week running. Steams up in less than a minute and you just pump the handle when you want more. Floor was dry by the time I'd put the chairs back down. Cord is long enough to do the room from one socket.

Good mop, lives in the utility room now
Does what I wanted, which was a quick going over of the tiles without filling a bucket. Only reason it's not five stars is that it doesn't stand up on its own, so it leans against the wall in the utility next to my old spray mop. Not a big deal but worth knowing.

What's in the box
Photo shows everything you get: the mop, two pads, the little jug for filling it and a leaflet. Took me five minutes to click the pole together. Used it on the hallway lino the same evening. No chemicals, just tap water, and it took the sticky marks off by the door that I'd given up on.

Lovely on real wood
Was nervous about steam on the oak floor in the lounge but it's sealed and the mop leaves it just slightly damp, dries in a couple of minutes. I keep it plugged in by the fireplace because I end up using it most days. Pad goes in the wash with the tea towels.

Handy but the tank is small
It's replaced my mop and bucket completely. The tank does the kitchen and hall on one fill but if I want to do the bathroom as well I have to top it up. Takes thirty seconds so I'm not complaining much. Sits in the cupboard next to the dustpan.

Mosaic tiles in the bathroom
Those little mosaic tiles are a nightmare with a normal mop because the grout lines catch everything. This gets in there. Did the bathroom floor while the bath was running. The pad's thick enough that it doesn't feel like you're scrubbing.

Bathroom floor in two minutes
Steam takes about 30 seconds to come through. I do the bathroom while the kettle's on, honestly. The head swivels enough to get round the toilet and under the sink without bending down. No chemical smell after, which I didn't expect to care about but I do.

Kept it in the laundry room
Light enough to carry upstairs with one hand. I do the kitchen floor and the utility every couple of days now instead of once a week because it's no effort. The water tank clips off to fill so you don't have to carry the whole thing to the tap.

Fine, does the job
Nothing fancy about it. Pole, tank, pad. That's the appeal really. Took the photo before I put it together because the wife asked what was in the box. Cable is long. Pads wash fine. Would have liked a clip to hold the cable tidy but I've used a bit of velcro.

Wish I'd bought one years ago
I've spent a fortune on floor cleaner over the years. This uses tap water and the floor comes up cleaner than it ever did. The hallway had a grey tinge I thought was just the colour of the tiles. It wasn't.

Under a minute to heat up
Timed it because I was curious. About 45 seconds from switching on to steam. Pump action means you decide how much steam goes down, so the wood floor gets a light pass and the kitchen tiles get a proper soaking.

Works but not for a big house
We've got a lot of floor downstairs and I'm refilling the tank three times to get through it all. The mop itself is fine and light. If you've got a flat or a small house you'll be happy. For us it's a bit of a faff.

Good for a rental
Landlord inspection coming up and the kitchen lino had marks I couldn't shift. Went over it twice with this and they've gone. Two pads in the box so there's always a clean one while the other's in the wash.

Replaced a Vax that died
Had a bigger steam cleaner that was heavy and took ages to heat. This is about half the weight and does everything I actually used the other one for. Don't miss the attachments.

Pads could be bigger
Decent little mop. The head is a good width for a hallway but I'd have liked a spare pad or two more in the box. Bought a twin pack separately. Cleans well, dries fast.

Dog hair and muddy paws
Two spaniels. Kitchen floor is a mess by lunchtime most days. This lifts the dried mud off the tiles and the pad grips the hair rather than pushing it around. Quick rinse of the pad under the tap between rooms.

Easy for my hands
I have arthritis and wringing a mop out was getting hard. This weighs next to nothing and you just push it. The pump on the handle takes a light press. Best thing I've bought for the house this year.

Toddler-proof floors
Now our son's crawling I wanted to stop using chemical cleaner on the floor. It's just water and heat. The floor is dry within a minute or two so he's not sliding about on it afterwards.

Bit noisy when you pump
Cleans really well. The pump makes a sort of hiss and click each time you push it which took a bit of getting used to. Not loud, just noticeable. Floors look great though.

Better than the pricier ones
My sister has one of the fancy ones with the flip head and it doesn't clean any better than this. Half the price. Cord is plenty long. The pad velcros on and off in a second.

Grout looks new
Had the bathroom done four years ago and the grout had gone grey. Went over it slowly with this and it's back to white. Didn't scrub, just let the steam sit for a moment on each bit.

Nice and light
Carrying it up two flights to the flat was fine, it's about the weight of a kettle. Does my laminate in ten minutes. I leave it in the corner of the kitchen, it doesn't take up much room.

Cable gets in the way a bit
The cord is long which is good but there's no hook on the mop to loop it round while you're using it, so it trails. Cleaning is excellent, no complaints there. Just an odd design miss.

Sticky kitchen floor gone
Something got spilt under the fridge months ago and the floor near it was always tacky. Steam softened it and the pad picked it up. First thing that's worked.

Simple to use
Fill the jug, pour it in, plug in, wait, mop. That's all there is to it. My wife was worried it would be complicated. It isn't.

No streaks on the porcelain tiles
Every other mop left streaks on our grey porcelain tiles that showed up in the afternoon sun. This leaves nothing behind because there's no cleaning solution in the water. Should have swapped ages ago.

Good for the caravan
Bought it for the static caravan. The floor in there gets sandy and dirty and this deals with it without me hauling a bucket across the site. Small enough to store under the seat.

Tank cap is fiddly
Only gripe is the little cap on the tank, it's a bit awkward to get back on when your hands are wet. Everything else is spot on. Floor dries fast and the pads wash clean.

Does exactly what it says
Reviewed a lot of these online before buying. Went for this because it's simple and it's Shark. No regrets. Steam comes out when you pump, stops when you don't. Two pads. Long cord. Done.

Not for unsealed wood
Our old floorboards in the back bedroom aren't sealed and it left them looking a bit patchy. That's my fault for not reading properly. On the kitchen tiles it's excellent, so three stars is really about my own floors.

Sanitises without the smell

Good, but stand it against something
It won't stay upright on its own, which caught me out the first time. Lean it against the worktop and it's fine. Cleaning is very good, especially on the lino in the hall.

Better than expected for the money
Wasn't expecting much at this price. It heats quickly and the pad picks up more than my old mop ever did. The water tank pops off easily to refill.

Handle is a bit short for me
I'm six foot three and I have to stoop slightly. Not a deal breaker and my wife's fine with it. Cleans well, heats fast, pads come out of the wash like new.
Frequently asked questions
Which floors can I use it on? ▼
Any sealed hard floor: tile, stone, laminate, vinyl, lino, marble and sealed hardwood. Don't use it on unsealed or waxed wood, or on carpet.
How long does it take to heat up? ▼
Around 30 seconds from switching on. Once the light shows it's ready, pump the handle to release steam.
Do I need to add any cleaning solution? ▼
No. It works with tap water only. Adding detergent or descaler can damage the heater and isn't covered by the guarantee.
How long does one tank last? ▼
The 375 ml tank gives roughly 10 to 15 minutes of steam depending on how often you pump. That's enough for a kitchen and hallway on one fill. The tank clips off so refilling takes seconds.
Are the pads washable? ▼
Yes. The two Dirt Grip pads in the box go in the washing machine on a normal cycle. Don't use fabric softener, as it stops them absorbing properly.
Does it stand up on its own? ▼
No. Like most stick steam mops it needs to lean against a wall or worktop when you're not using it. It weighs 2.6 kg, so it's easy to move around.
What does the guarantee cover? ▼
A 2-year guarantee against manufacturing faults. It doesn't cover pads, which are consumables, or damage caused by using anything other than water in the tank.
How long is delivery? ▼
Orders ship from our UK warehouse within 24 hours and arrive in 2 to 4 working days. Delivery is free across the UK on orders over £15, so the steam mop always qualifies.
How can I pay? ▼
Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Apple Pay and Google Pay. Payment is processed by Stripe and your card details never touch our servers.
